RE: New Truck ?????

Can anyone suggest a good GMC dealer around LA/E-TX area?
Drive on down to Lafayette. Service Chevrolet and Courtsey GMC are both the number 1 dealer in Louisiana for their respective brands and you see a TON of their trucks in the Central, South Louisiana area. They always have some good deals. Also, Ray Chevrolet in Abbeville had $8,000 off all Duramax Diesel equimped trucks. Hope that helps.

RE: 08 gmc 1500 w/ 6.0 motor

I have one and will not own another 5.3. My son has a 5.3 new body style just like mine, and I can tell a difference. I like the bigger tranny, bigger rear axle gear, and the more pep I get out of the 6.0. Plus the MPG is only about 1.5 to 2 difference. My computer shows 15.6 (and I get better than that by hand calculations) and his computer shows 16.7 (his also gets better).

RE: Ford or Chevy/GMC

Extremely thin chromed cheeks at that. The proposed new model, 2009 I think ditches the cheeks and looks much better.
Same cheeks on 2009. They didn't change anything.
It's the 2010 that gets the new face. THANK THE LORD!!!

RE: Continental Tire Class Action Suit

I don't plan on getting involved, but Continental tires are the most sorry tires I have ever seen. I had one blow out for no reason on a Ford Expedition I used to have with about 2K miles on it and I just replaced the set on my Mercury Mariner with 25K because they sounded like buck shot mudders going down the road. I wish Ford would invest in a better tire for there trucks and SUVs.

RE: GM selling Hummer, maybe more

Interesting...I'm sure GMC is in there with Chevy and Cadillac. Why would they sell or who would want to buy a division who's intials are General Motors Corporation? And seeing how the are all made on the same lines as Chevys.

Are they equal in opitions and creature comforts? Or is the GMC pretty nice and the Dodge a work truck edition?

RE: Duramax diesel smell

Have the injector balance rates checked. They should be within +or-4 in park and +or-6 in drive or reverse whit the engine fully warmed up. Although injector problems are considered rare on the LLY motors...it was a very common issue on the LB7 motors.
Being an '06, he should have the LBZ motor. I don't think its would be injectors in this late a year model. That was maining the 01 and 02 and some 03s. When I had my DMAX, ULSD did smell different than LSD.

RE: GM G80 Rear Differential Shutter

I'v had a couple of trucks to that or they would hesitate for a split second and then jerk forward. But it only did it a couple of times, on left hand sharp turns...never had an problems though.

RE: Between a Rock and a Hard Place.

Well we bought ourselves a truck. My wife located a truck which was pretty close to our specifications at a dealership 2 hrs away. We went to our local dealer and said we wanted them to get this truck for us. It took a few phone calls and some haggling but in the end we ended up buying it. We are happy with the price and we got all the options we wanted less the sunroof.
We need to decide on two things?
They want $200 to put nitrogen in the tires. Is this just the latest scam or is there an actual benefit to it?
Is it worth 1,700 to get extend the basic warranty from 3 years to 5 years?
$200 bucks for Nitrogen is INSANE!!! I paid $40 buck for my Z71, that is $10 a tire. Nitrogen doesn't really help the gas mileage, but I think it rides better, and the pressure doesn't go up and down with the temps like air does.

RE: 2009 F150 specs 5.4L V8 gas - 320hp/390tq, 6 speed auto

I figured they would have found a way to be on par or better than the Tundra numbers, but I guess MPG would suffer too much.

RE: '08 GM Receivers

They come with a sleeve if you don't have the 2 1/2" class V hitch. Why ask why? If you don't need a class V hitch use the sleeve, if you can benifit from the heavier hitch you have the receiver.

RE: 1/2T Crew Max Pickup

I agree with splinterpicker,if you are looking to go with a half-ton, the Vortec Max in the Chevy or GMC is the way to go.I have a payload of 2060Lbs and tow rating of 10,500.
Ditto. I have a new style GMC VortecMAX 6.0. The best truck I'v ever driven to date. It's much, much better than the previous generation GMs. My son has the same truck but with the 5.3 and he's happy as can be. No problems to date, just many miles of happy crusin' and towin'.
